Bees n Boops and working with AR

As I’m nearing 3 million views I thought I would give an update on my AR content on Snapchat.

Stats from just the last week!

I’ve been experimenting more with machine learning and trying to write my own models.  While I’ve still got a lot to do before I can become fluent in machine learning I’ve been using templates and datasets to play around with it and hopefully will have custom models to use soon that will help me in my creation.  I’m currently looking to do segmentation of different datasets using the COCO annotation format.  I have made a few already using a precreated template but it didn’t end up how I wanted it so I’m working on tweaking it.  The downside about this is that it takes hours and hours to train your models so patience is absolutely essential.

I’ve also released a completely original game called Bees n Boops.  The objective is to get your bee which is hanging by an elastic chain to collide with a flower on your nose to score points.  I would like to expand on this concept because I think it uses the AR facial recognition features really well.  Making games like this help me practice programming in JavaScript as well as working with different media types.

Just recently I’ve been working closely on projects with Snap partners like Carrie Esser and their official creators like Marina Gonzales and Jonah Cohn.  It’s been exciting watching my skills grow so quickly since I started in October.
